4-H Global Citizenship Project
The 4-H Global Citizenship project encourages youth to explore other cultures, countries, and international experiences.
In Unit 1, Study of Another Country, members investigate a chosen country, participate in pen pal programs, attend international festivals, and give a speech or demonstration, culminating in a notebook to exhibit what they learned. Unit 2, Global Challenges, provides Senior members with the opportunity to study and present on global issues of their choice. Members in this unit may choose to participate in the Colorado GROW Youth Institute where they select a food insecurity topic to research and identify potential solutions. Unit 3, Host a Delegate from Another Country, involves welcoming a delegate from another country or culture and documenting the experience in a notebook. Unit 4, International Experience in Another Country, builds on these experiences for members 11-18, which allows youth to live with a host family abroad or travel internationally and create an exhibit showcasing their learning, fostering global awareness and intercultural skills.
