Project Expenses, Income & Value

Tracking expenses and income resulting from your 4-H project teaches basic money management skills and prepares you for pricing and revenue tracking in future pursuits. It may also be a requirement for certain projects. Recording the value of the items you made and comparing that to what it would cost to buy can also be valuable for exhibiting.

Everyday, we make decisions about where to spend our time and money, and what activities we want to continue.  Creating a personal return on investment for your project can help!

Ask yourself: How did I benefit from this project? What knowledge and skills did I gain from the project? Did I enjoy it? Was it worth the expense? Could I spend money more wisely the next time?  Is it worth doing again? Do I want to learn more?
