Introduction
As your 4-H members prepare to run for district offices, here are some expectations that you may want to go over with them.
District Presidents are expected to:
- Conduct business at respective district meetings
- Serve as a member of the Officer Team
- Promote active participation of district members in state/district activities
- Sign and abide by the State 4-H Officer Contract
- Be responsible for expenses incurred during term in office
Must attend
- Colorado State 4-H Conference (4 days): usually Occurs the last week in June
- Leadership Development Conference & 4-H Day at Capitol (four days): usually Occurs the last weekend in January or whenever the last Monday in January falls; 4-H Day at the Capitol
- Youth Fest (three days): usually the second weekend in February
- Colorado Leadership Camp (three days): the second weekend in November
- Officer Team Retreat & New Mexico State 4-H Conference:
- All the Officer Team meetings:
- One absence from Officer Team meetings that is not excused by the president, vice president or an Adult Leader Advisor constitutes removal from the Officer Team.
District Vice Presidents are expected to:
- Assume the duties of the District President in their absence.
- Be counselors at Youth Fest.
- Possibly be asked to step in when a District President is not able to attend one
of the conferences. - Facilitate the think tanks at the Leadership Development Conference with their
District President.
For Agents with District Presidents:
Colorado Leadership Camp: Occurs in November and overseen by the State Officer Team. State Officers are required to register in 4HOnline through their county offices, but State Officers do not pay registration fees. Checks for regular registration fees for 4-H members (who are not state officers) should be made payable to the Colorado State 4-H Senate.
Leadership Development Conference & 4-H Day at the Capitol: Occurs in January. The State Officer Team pays half the registration fee in the form of a reimbursement to either the state officer or the county, but the county needs to pay the full registration amount prior to reimbursement. It’s the county’s responsibility to let the State Officer Team treasurer know who the reimbursement goes to. State Officers are required to register in 4-H Online through their county offices, and registration fees should be made payable to the Colorado 4-H Foundation.
Youth Fest: Occurs in February and overseen by the State Officer Team. The State Officer Team does not pay registration fees for this conference, but officers are still required to register in 4HOnline through their county offices. Checks for regular registration fees for 4-H members (who are not state officers) should be made payable to the Colorado State 4-H Senate.
